All right, I know I’ve already posted this video before, I think at least…But I must rant about it a little bit. I’ll try my best to explain why this scene to me is like…the sexiest scene I’ve ever seen Disney do in one of their love stories.
First off, there’s no dialogue in this scene aside from the end when the man calls for people to go to the boats, the girl mentioning the lost princess, and Rapunzel thanking the girls that braided her hair, it’s just showing everyone’s genuine emotions. On top of that, the music is spectacular as is the animation.
All right, now, this IS a rant, so I apologize in advance if there’s strange order or coherency in this lol
This is the first scene where you actually get to see the two love interest protagonists be calm and light and just have fun without worry. Yes, Flynn is ducking to make sure that guards don’t see him, but as the scene progresses, even the action of hiding becomes fun for them, because they’re just so happy to be around each other. That cute little look they give each other when they’re ducked in the small alcove of the alleyway, like they’re sharing a secret. From this point Flynn slowly turns back into Eugene, because he’s finally allowing himself to be happy again.
That’s another thing: happiness is sexy, to me at least. And not like, happy go lucky, bouncing off of the walls happy, no, genuine happiness. The two lovers, the community, the music, the dancing, the activities that they’re doing in between the cuts of dancing, it’s just all so genuine and lighthearted, without being cheesey, and the lack of dialogue only adds to that because they all don’t NEED words to express how they’re feeling in this scene.
The parts that get me the most are the clips of dancing, how she moves, how free she obviously feels, I can’t even imagine what she must be feeling, but you just want to BE around her. And something about them being kept apart throughout the whole dance only adds to that feeling.
For most of the movie up to this point, they’re all right with being around each other, but when they’re both happy all they can think about is being drawn to each other, but they’re still being pulled away. You can see it in their eyes a little bit too, that very light desperation followed quickly by enjoyment in the dance.
And then there’s Eugene, you just keep seeing him get lighter and happier, which he hasn’t been since tumbling into the tower, and it’s with her, a girl that was nothing more than an annoyance to him for so long.
And then from 2:39-2:44, that part, just….nnf-! It hits me right in the feels. The dance is coming to an end, and you see his face…He’s not even thinking about having fun with everyone at that point, no: he knows that song is about to end and he hasn’t gotten to hold her, that might be when he even realizes that all he wants to do is hold her. Meanwhile, she’s so caught up in the dance and bliss, not even paying attention to her surroundings, and still, by fate, she ends up in his arms. His fingers curl, just ever so slightly for a brief moment when she finally gets there, so even if he knows it or not, his body knows that he wants her there and doesn’t want her to twirl away again.
People say that during “I See the Light”, that’s when they realized that they loved each other, but I think it’s in that scene, right there.
Maybe it’s just me, but oh well, it remains to be THE sexiest scene in any Disney cartoon feature film, 2D or CGI, just, it blows everything else out of the water for me, because it’s just so darned subtle. This entire kingdom scene, just….damn.
Am I the only one…?

If ONLY all those shitty pop songs sounded like this.
I…there is no proper way to respond to this, but to call it beautiful. This is beauty. This is proof that we are not a helpless species. This is also proof that we never have an excuse to say that something is “too hard”, or “unreachable”. This is living breathing talented proof that we have so much more in us than we’d like to think, or that we can even begin to imagine.
Never think you are alone.
